CognateSource is a free, community-powered linguistic library. We respect your privacy and are committed to being transparent about the limited data we collect.
What we collect
- Search queries:words you search may be temporarily logged to improve search quality. These are not linked to any identity.
- Word submissions:if you submit a word, we store the word, its definition, etymology, and cognates you provide. We do not collect your name or email.
What we don't collect
- We do not require account registration to use CognateSource.
- We do not use advertising trackers or sell data to third parties.
- We do not use cookies beyond what is strictly necessary for session handling.
Data retention
Submitted words and search logs are retained only as long as needed to operate the service. You may contact us to request removal of submitted content.
